Pro-Am American Cockers
Description
I started in Cockers after acquiring my first a buff (ASCOB) boy from Maureen Rees of Waykhan American Cockers in 1981. He became my first Champion and like most of us the rest is history.
I have been very fortunate over the years to have owned some really great dogs and wish to thank the individual breeders for allowing me the pleasure. Dogs that come to mind would be a first chocolate boy - Ch Do It Chocolate Candidate, although "TJ" did not become a great winner, he was a great companion. Ch Artru Red Rambler was one of the best American Cockers shown in this country and won numerous Best in Show awards and produced some really great kids. He was followed by Ch Cosmic's Oh What a Knite who was just the best. "Kenny" as he was known around the ring and home was a winner wherever he went. He was semi retired at five years old and brought back in the veterans class to once again win Best of Breed on a couple of occasions. Kenny produced well and has a couple of Champion offspring. I would like to thank Marguerite and John Agrella for sending this boy to me. He went on to become the breed record holder in South Africa. Others that come to mind are Ch Laurent's Rare Opportunity who we lost at an early age and Ch Merriyank Playing to Win who took early retirement to become a housewife. At present we are ruled by 4 Cockers.
On the judging scene - I was very fortunate to have been invited to judge the American Cocker Spaniel Club of Victoria's Championship Show a couple of years ago. I have also judged Cockers in New Zealand and returned to Australia two years later where I judged in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. In 1999 I judged the Boxer Chapter in Ipoh, Malaysia - and whilst on a trip to the UK judged the Cotswold Match meeting.
