- Long story short: We had torrential rains. We had a basement flooding. It was definitely over a foot and a half of water, with sloshing and drifting probably closer to two. After the flooding of 2003, we had moved everything of consequence off the floor. Thinking we had learned our lesson we had no idea we would have had to have moved items over 2 feet off the floor. To be frank we lost a lot: most of our power tools, most of our wedding presents we couldn't fit in our 3 foot by 6 foot kitchen, and most of my keepsakes and photos from my last 25 years. Notable losses include any photos that may have placed me in Munich in 2001, any card someone sent us for our wedding and all card correspondence between Jose and myself through the years, 1 Swenson's bumper sticker, and a quote Katie wrote out in 9th grade from "Now We Are Six." I used to tape it up to every desk I moved to, but I was delinquent in setting up a desk (which was going to be in the basement!) at the condo. I'm being glib, there was more lost, I just can't fathom it right now.
