The National Pist is an exciting and intoxicating new publication devoted to all the news that’s fit to pour: Drunken News From Pist Reporters. We offer the best in satirical writings from beneath the frothy head of pub culture offering a barstool spectator’s view of the world. We serve a fine cocktail mix of drinking history, drinking technology, and social thought with a twist of satirical wit.
Our stories have discussed and dissected issues such as the fight for the adoption of a Fair Measures Act (law governing the volume of pints) in Canada, the relationship between Hops and Hemp, to more news-related pieces including the return of the Stubby to Canada and commentaries like the ‘Kult of the Karaoke.’ Regular features in the Pist include an ‘All About’ section detailing the history and craft behind popular types of alcohol such as (Vodka, Cognac, India Pale Ale) Tales from Behind the Bar (a profile and interview with a friendly barkeep), Sober Second Thought, and of course the reader-favourites, the Pist crossword puzzle and Pist’s drinking horoscopes.
