The Original: Eleven years ago, in 1997, the owner of photowow, Robert Schiff, wanted to decorate a large wall space by combining different photos and images into a big piece of art - without paying a fortune. Not having the benefit of the Internet, he picked up the Los Angeles Yellow Pages and started calling print shops. No shop was interested in creating his artist idea. But, as luck would have it, he was reading an article in a magazine within a week of his search about companies competing in the brand new large format printing business. The main picture in this article contained the CEO of one of the manufactures of these printers printing a large print of that company’s President. A light bulb went off and photowow, the original photo into digital art business, was born. The first photowow retail store creating custom art from favorite photos was opened on December 4, 1997. That same fun capability became available to anyone in the world with access to the Internet on September 12, 1999.
The Difference: It’s often said that “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”. Over the years, we’ve been very “flattered” by many companies that have attempted to imitate many of our unique design styles and photo-products. We always purchase one of their photowow imitations. Most of our graphic artists have been employed full time at photowow for over five years and each one has created over a 1,000 unique custom designs. Our Guarantee: You will be able to view a proof of any design you select typically within three days of your order date. Many times, it's completed by the next day. You can easily request changes or approve it. Once approved, your order will be promptly completed and shipped to your doorstep. If you do not receive what you saw on your screen or if your piece is damaged in shipment, we will have our shipper pick up your order when it is convenient for you, and we will promptly send you a replacement. We are very pleased to say, that of all the thousands of art pieces we’ve created in the last eleven years, less than 2% have been returned.
