Title
Olympic Peninsula Travel Service
Description
The Olympic Peninsula Travel Association was formed in 1932 when thirty-five business owners met at Rosemary Inn at Lake Crescent. William O. Thorniley of the Black Ball Ferry line was elected to be the first president. Early members of the association helped develop resorts, restaurants and attractions around the newly built Highway 101 that formed the “Olympic Peninsula Loop” around the peninsula.
The name changed in the 40’s to Olympic Peninsula Resort & Hotel Association and in the 50’s to Olympic Peninsula Traveler’s Service. In the 60’s the name changed back to Travel Association. The primary service currently provided, the printing & distribution of the annual Olympic Directory & Map, is promoted under the name Olympic Peninsula Traveler’s Service.
