Riga - a city to discover. Riga, the capital city of Latvia is found at the mouth of the river Daugava at its confluence with the Bay of Riga. It has an administrative area of 3017 hectares. Of particular significance to the city are its blue zones (rivers, lakes and canals) and its green zones (woodland, parks and urban squares). Together these make up 54.2% of the area of the city. The favourable geographical position and rich historical and cultural heritage has given Riga the opportunity to develop as an important tourist centre on the Baltic sea.

Accordingly, you can see a progression of architectural styles existing harmoniously, side by side; from medieval to Art Nouveau, architectural styles unfold before you. Riga is especially rich in Art Nouveau showpieces, so much so that UNESCO has declared them a world treasure.
