Description
Established in 1988 by Holly Gullen Stout (cellist), the Nova String Quartet is dedicated to providing the Omaha Metro area with the best variety and quality in string quartet music. From the classical masters such as Bach, Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven to light jazz, show tunes, and tangos, the Nova String Quartet will enhance any special occasion. Holly also arranges music for the quartet and is the manager of our group.
All members of the NSQ are fully qualified professional musicians. All have either a Bachelor's or Master's degree in music performance and all are long-time members of the Omaha Symphony. In addition, all four musicians are sought-after teachers of their instrument.
Cellist and founding member of the Nova String Quartet, Holly Gullen Stout has been active as a performer, music teacher, composer and arranger in the Omaha area since 1978. She has written original compositions for children's orchestras which have been performed by Omaha Area Youth Orchestras and schools through out the Omaha Area. Some of her work is carried in the Luck's Music catalog. A versatile musician, Mrs. Stout has taught orchestras in Millard and Omaha Public Schools. She enjoys working with young musicians and currently has a large studio of private students on the cello. As a resident of Kansas City, Missouri, Mrs. Stout earned her Bachelor of Music Education at the Kansas City Conservatory of Music then moved to Omaha where she became a member of the Omaha Symphony and has played for the Lincoln Symphony and Chamber Orchestras. She has since earned her Master of Music in cello performance at the Conservatory in K.C. In addition to everything else, Mrs. Stout is a published arranger of string quartet literature.
