Description
'Local Produce' is defined as food which is produced from livestock (including fish) raised within the County boundary and food crops grown within the County boundary.
We have included ‘value added’ foods made from local produce but which do include other ingredients. This means that cheese made from North Yorkshire milk will be included but cheese made from imported milk will not, even if it is manufactured in North Yorkshire: similarly, products such as sausages must contain North Yorkshire meat. All the producers listed in this category have completed a questionnaire which details their locally grown ingredients.
Food made from primary produce such cheese, sausages, pies, ice cream, preserves etc. Only food with significant ‘local produce’ content is included.
