Incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation, NOMEC's Board of Directors has members representing the University of Ottawa, Laurentian University, the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, the four northeastern Ontario Medical Societies, the Family Medicine Residents, and northeastern Ontario communities.
The Northeastern Ontario Family Medicine Residency Program (NOFM), NOFM - Emergency Medicine and NOFM - Anesthesia Programs are affiliated with the University of Ottawa. The Northeastern Stream Residency Programs are also affiliated with the University of Ottawa (Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Paediatrics and Psychiatry) and the University of Toronto (Psychiatry).
Hands on learning, caring professionals, health care education, research and services in the North, for the North, by the North. The NOMEC logo, two hands encircled to shape the letter « N », symbolizes the very heart of this mission.
