- Granville Non-Violent Action Team (GNAT), organized during the 1990 struggle against the ThermalKem hazardous waste incinerator, was reactivated September 23, 2007 at a meeting with some of the team members from 1990 and new members from several counties across North Carolina. The organization’s purpose is to stop the NBAF lab. GNAT's initial goal is to get the citizens to send comments for the “Scoping” phase of what issues need to be addressed in the environmental assessment on the proposed lab by September 27, 2007.
