Welcome to Neuvelle, a small nation with a unique standing in the world. Neuvelle as an independent state is only 30 years old, however, it's history is older. Since independence, Neuvelle has prospered through hard work and determination, a trait inherited from the first pioneers and tribes of this small but curious group of islands.

Early History

The islands of Ananeiru was first settled by the Talofihu approximately 1300 years ago, as descendants from Tahiti. Evidence, and legend, suggests that European sailors — most probably Portuguese — arrived at the islands in the 17th century and co-habited with the Talofihu for some days, however after a confrontation, fighting broke out and the crew were killed trying to escape the island. No records exist as to which expedition these crew members were sailing with and their identities remain unknown. The only physical evidence in existence today are several 17th-century gold coins from Portugal, although legend has it that a Portuguese ship was wrecked in the waters surrounding Neuvelle and is still awaiting discovery.
