- My name is Jeff Nisbet. I was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and lived there until I was 11 years old, when my parents and I emigrated to the United States. I have been happily married to my best friend for 36 years, and have two fine adult children and one grandchild. Several years ago, while researching my family's Scottish roots, I discovered that one of the historical luminaries of the Nisbet clan, Lord Nisbet of Dirleton, had been a very early Grand Master of Scottish Freemasonry. Over the next few years I did much reading of Scottish history, the part the Freemasons played in it and, by association, the mysterious medieval order of warrior monks known as the Knights Templar, thought by many to have been privy to some of the most secret and heretical underground knowlege in the history of civilization. I am presently writing a book about the Templars, among other related subjects. In the meantime I am publishing some of my research as "bite-sized" articles, both on the newsstands and this website. The photo-illustration shown above is of me, "cutting a dash" in 14th-century headgear and eyeglasses, at Scotland's Bannockburn Center, near the site of the famous battle for Scottish independence. The original photograph was shot by an old and dear family friend, Derek Wallace, during one of my annual trips to Scotland.
