- In 1985, Dave Hoffman noticed a need for quality metallurgical testing in the Midwest. With little more than a dream and his own determination, Hoffman launched Metallurgical Services, Inc. (MSi) as a one-man show. He worked out of a 3000 square foot lab stocked with second hand equipment and machining that was light years away from CNC technology. Hoffman worked hard to provide precision metallurgical testing services for local clients while establishing the MSi name and reputation.
