The Society for Marine Mammalogy was founded at San Francisco, California, U.S.A., on December 15, 1981, and incorporated as a non-profit entity under United States law on September 21, 1982, at San Francisco, California, U.S.A.
2. Gather and disseminate to members of the Society, the public and public and private institutions, scientific, technical and management information through publications and meetings.
All members receive the journal Marine Mammal Science and the Society’s Newsletter. Both are published quarterly (the newsletter electronically). Members also have access to the member's only section of this website, which includes the membership directory.. Except as noted, membership includes the right to vote in Society elections, to run for elective office, to serve on standing and ad hoc Society committees, and to participate, at the member’s registration fee rate, in the Society’s Biennial Conferences on the Biology of Marine Mammals. All dues are payable in US currency.
