Men of All Colors/New York (MACT/NY) is a multiracial, multicultural organization of gay and bisexual men committed to addressing and combating racism and discrimination in the lesbian and gay male community, and to providing a supportive environment for non-oppressive multiracial relating among gay men.
Founded in June 1980 as Black and White Men Together/New York, MACT/NY was created to address concerns about the effects of racism in the lesbian and gay community as well as in society at large, and the ways in which racism affects our personal lives. Our intent has been to open channels of communication among gay men of all races and cultures, and to provide a forum for discussing and confronting issues of racism, sexism and homophobia in our community and in our lives.
MACT/NY is one of a number of MACT, PACT and BWMT chapters throughout the country, all of them under the aegis of the NABWMT: National Association of Black and White Men Together. MACT/NY members attend the Annual NABWMT Convention, to be held this year from July 31 through August 5, 2006, in Southern California (click here to register online). This convention heralds the beginning of NABWMT’s second quarter century of existence. We maintain connections with other MACT and BWMT chapters to share ideas and activities and to celebrate anniversaries and accomplishments.
