Linucon exists because lots of science fiction fans like to play with computers. Linucon is a combination Science Fiction Convention and Linux Expo.

If you’re looking for open source software, you’ll have fun. Imagine a three day LUG meeting and technical conference, with 802.11b Wireless Internet Access, multiple panel tracks, computing/programming/system administration tutorials, Birds of a Feather sessions, a LAN party room with computer gaming around the clock, and various vendors showing off their new stuff. Eric Raymond will be there, along with Howard Tayler of Novell/SuSE/Ximian/Schlock Mercenary.

The con suite will be giving away caffeinated jello and liquid nitrogen ice cream. We’ll have panels on publishing on demand, machinima, digital art, and a lot more.
