- About Us ::
- In 2002 the South Charleston Area Development Corporation (SCADC) proposed the creation of an inland waterway authority serving the mid and upper Kanawha Valley region. The Kanawha Valley Local Port Authority District (KVLPAD) was granted provisional status by the West Virginia Public Port Authority (WVPPA) on May 14, 2001 during their regularly scheduled meeting held in Huntington. The KVLPAD was fully designated as a port operation by the WVPPA in April of 2002.
