- What’s it like being John Kowalik? Well right now, I work for a marketing company in St. Louis. And it’s really starting to get to me. It’s not my job…it’s marketing all together. The whole point of marketing is to tell people that they are deficient in some area of life and that if they don’t buy what you’re selling, they’ll never be happy. It’s about finding problems where there are no problems because we happen to have a solution to a problem that doesn’t really exist. But fortunately, most people are filled with so much fear, anxiety, despair, regret, etc that they’ll buy anything that might fill that dark, empty puzzle piece in their soul. That’s why companies like mine exist. That’s why Best Buy gets away with selling $10,000 televisions, and that’s why casinos and alcohol and porn are such solid industries.
