"In their skillfully written book, "Innocence Betrayed, A Dad’s Story of Clergy Misconduct", H. J. Wisocki and C. J. Szajnecki have thoroughly documented the events leading to the horrific and tragic destruction of a normal American family. Although it is hard to believe that a Pastor of any denomination would willfully step in and tear a family apart by using his official capacity to coerce and abuse it's members, this is exactly what happened in this case.
With all the events laid out in front of you it is easy to see the deceit that lies in this Pastor's heart. But on a day to day basis, it escaped the individual members notice until too late, while they tried to practice good Christian ethics. Little incidents crop up and begin to multiply, until the family is completely overwhelmed.
Although it may seem repetitive to recount each incident, it is imperative that the reader understand how long this went on, and the steps that were taken to try to relieve the situation. This man's struggle to remedy the ills that befell his children are heart wrenching to witness. It is difficult to believe that a church government is just as corrupt and eager to cover up it's members misdeeds as in a national government. However, it happened, and is happening in this true story.
Taking into consideration that as youngsters, people are taught that the church is a safe haven and those who officiate are to be trusted, people must wonder how often authority is misplaced and abused by those who are entrusted with the care and tending of other people's souls.
After reading this book, whether a churchgoer or not, one will question every move made by any member of the clergy. This book is a valuable contribution to society as a whole and I would give it a definite five star ***** rating.
