- GreenCOM was launched by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in 1993 as an environmental education and communication project. As the project evolved, its activities became defined by an approach called SCALE, or System-wide Collaborative Action for Livelihoods and the Environment. Twelve years after its inception, GreenCOM has implemented activities in more than 30 countries, working with men and women, children and adults, in the public and private sectors.
