Description
Excerpted from the website:
- Galion = Innovation. Galion is a community with a long history of innovation. In the last half of the 19th century, local entrepreneurs, spurred by money and connections brought on the major rail lines that crossed here, sought to build careers that often involved experimenting with the latest and best technologies. One Galionite, William Quigley, invented a “railroad frog” - a device to keep trains on track when those tracks intersected at angles. Another Galion inventor claimed to have invented a voice transmission service before Alexander Graham Bell finished the telephone. Of course, there is a well-known local story that Bell himself tested the telephone from rooms in the Central Hotel.
