The principal objective of the FAC is to seek justice and freedom for Anwar Ibrahim and uphold Anwar Ibrahim's struggle and sacrifice to build a society and a Malaysian nation centered on justice, religious faith and noble humanitarian values.

When Anwar Ibrahim was first arrested on 20 September 1998 it was under the Internal Security Act (ISA). The "crime" was organising a protest demonstration against OPPRESSION, CORRUPTION, CRONYISM and NEPOTISM - so rampant in Malaysian society today. Realising that the charge would not stick, and due to the unpopularity of the ISA even amongst the ruling elite, the "crime" was changed to sodomy.

The basis of the sodomy charge was "revelations" in a book titled "50 Reasons Why Anwar Ibrahim Should Not Be Prime Minister", which the court had earlier granted an injunction against - and which Dr Mahathir himself had publicly declared as unfounded and a pack of lies.
