Dad Wetterberg (Fran) introduced fencing to Albertans in the 1930's and was a long-time coach of the University of Alberta and Edmonton Fencing clubs. Fran was inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame as a Fencing "builder". Fran was the recipient of numerous achievement awards for his contribution to building the sport of fencing. Now deceased. The "Wetterberg Open" University of Alberta Tournament is named in his honour.

Jim Wetterberg - former recreational fencer. Jim is a Past President (3 terms) of the Alberta Fencing Association and a Qualified Armourer. (Jim was Armourer for two Canada Winter Games - 1995 in Grande Prairie, Alberta and 1991 in Charlottetown, P.E.I.) Jim is a former Technical Advisor to the Canadian Fencing Federation and at tournaments Jim is always a willing technical advisor to tournament organizers and to the individual fencers.

Janet Wetterberg (Jim's wife) - former recreational fencer. Janet served many years on the Alberta Fencing Association Executive as Secretary, President, and Vice President Finance. She served 3 two-year terms with the Canadian Fencing Federation as Vice President Administration.
