- The first third of the 5K course at Bryant College, the part before heading into the woods, was a sprint for position. I hated the thought of it. “Your position when you go into the woods,” my father, our coach, told us, “Is the position you’ll have coming out of the woods. Remember, you’ve got to grab good position before the woods. Because when you come out it’s just a sprint for the last third of the race.”
