[1] Diets designed for the purpose of losing weight should be based on sound nutrition principles. Unfortunately, many loudly advertised diets ignore health requirements and are outright dangerous. Before embarking on a diet, one should check whether the contemplated diet is healthy or not. Reliable references are available. For example, the Johns Hopkins Center has published the White Paper on weight loss and nutrition. They have also published an excellent guide titled “Losing Weight for Good”.

The USDA’s Food Pyramid is also a good reference guide. The hM WEIGHT MONITOR has posted an article on its use: for weight loss purposes.

“Weight Loss Diets and the USDA’s Food Pyramid as a Safety Reference.” [2]
