IRS Tax Problems

To Congress, IRS is tax compliance officer. To us citizens, IRS is tax tiger. Congress decides, and IRS implements decision by passing the buck to you and me.

IRS tax problems are embedded in tax preparation, back taxes, penalties, examination, liens, Levy and professionals; i.e. what record do I need, where to store it, why do I need it, where to find it, what’s deductible, what isn’t, do I qualify for earned income credit / stimulus payment, I haven’t filed, I’m being audited, I owe back taxes, my spouse is responsible, I owe penalties, I have a tax lien, my bank account is frozen, I can’t pay, no one seems to listen, where can I find help, how much will it cost, who can I trust, what are the options, what can I do?

You are not alone here. Different people have different problems. Different people cope with problems in different ways, and neither way is inclusive. The important thing to remember is that the tiger has named you as the owner of a specific tax problem. You are thus the problem solver, no one else. You either solve the problem alone or get assistance from a tax professional.

There are a few professionals on the landscape who abuse the tiger and create hazards for clients. Be informed and avoid the abuser. When you’re told only what you want to hear, and react, objectivity is lacking. Objectivity is deciphering between educated guess and gambling. Generally, gamblers lose.
