Bindura is the commercial and industrial hub of Mashonaland Central, the northern province which enjoys the bread-basket status for Zimbabwe. Being only 88km to the north east of Harare, the capital city, Bindura is within easy reach of the main transportation corridor of Zimbabwe.

The urban set of Bindura is driven by a well established commercial center and up coming manufacturing and processing industrial base and a thriving informal sector. Bindura takes pride in its well maintained road network and other infrastructure including water supply. Links by road are also supported by rail. Leading among sporting facilities is the golf course which is part of Bindura Country club. The town also offers other excellent sporting facilities to cater for soccer, tennis, rugby, swimming and athletics as well as several indoor games. Renowned tourism activities are in the form of game and bird viewing in the surrounding private game parks which include Mupfurudzi, Dombawera and Zindele wild safaris. For the angling, boating, enthusiasts, the town is surrounded by large dams of various sizes with overnight camping sites.
