Big3D.com Debuts The Only Environmentally-Friendly Lenticular Cup
* Big3D's 3D/Motion cups/containers are easily recyclable * Injection Molded lenticular (IML) cups can not be recycled * Big3D's 3D/Motion cups use 20-50% less plastic (by weight) than IML * Big3D's cups are Environmentally Friendly, IML cups ARE NOT
In March 2007, Fresno-based Lenticular-leader Big3D.com launched its uniquely designed Lenticular cup, heralding the availability of the only recyclable, reusable, environmentally-friendly 3D/Motion Lenticular cups and containers.
The lenticular innovator stunned the beverage and packaging industry this week when it announced the arrival of the only fully recyclable lenticular container on the market. Until this new product from Big3D, lenticular cups were not recyclable. Since the common injection molded lenticular cup (IML cup) is a mixed plastic design-the cup body is made of one plastic, and the affixed lenticular label out of another-it is Recycle Code 7, i.e., impossible to recycle. Big3D's 3D/Motion cup is formed out of 100% polypropylene-no other materials are employed. Since the lenticular lens also forms the cup body, the cup is not only re-usable, it is easily recyclable, and each cup bears the plastic Recycle Code 5.
Lauded not only for its amazing 3D depth and unsurpassed image vibrancy, the 3D/Motion container fulfills the expectations of an increasingly environment-sensitive business climate. Corporations large and small are contending with the challenges of producing environment-positive packaging, and the 100% polypropylene 3D/Motion container from Big3D meets every key aspect of the "Three R's": Reduce, Re-use, Recycle.
By utilizing a light-weight single-material structure (20-50% less plastic by weight than an IML cup) significant reductions in energy are achieved during manufacture and shipping. Constructing the container out of strong polypropylene, allows the container to be reused many times. Finally, polypropylene is completely recyclable, and is encouraged for packaging use by organizations such as GreenPeace. In defining its "Pyramid of Plastics" the use of polypropylene is considered more desirable than all other plastics, second only to the still under-development bio-polymers.1
3D/Motion Lenticular containers are currently available in a cup form factor in four sizes: 12, 16, 20 and 32-ounce. Custom shapes and sizes are available. Since the design employs a rolled-lip, standard lid types of a wide variety are easily available. Since the whole structure is made of the lenticular lens, the entire surface of the container is in lenticular graphics for unmatched visual impact.
