6DoF stands for '6 Degrees of Freedom'. Neither title is technically accurate, but is commonly used to describe video games that allow movement on all three axis plus all three directions. That is, the player can turn left and right, up and down, rotate longitudinally, plus move forwards and backwards, up and down, and left and right. Only a few games have successfully achieved this full range of movement. Most notably, the Descent Series.
