I’d rented, and then bought, the Pollock DVD a few years ago and was fascinated by how Jackson, and Ed Harris in the film, created these huge abstract pictures. The film covers Jackson’s life and his relationship with Lee Krasner, played by Marcia Gay Harden who won an Oscar for the role. Ed Harris is a fan of Jackson Pollock, Ed also directed the film, and learnt how to paint in the same style. You would think that no one could produce something that was truly abstract in that way. You would think that repeated patterns, lines, curves and circles would start to form.
Anyway, yesterday I looked at Time.com’s 50 Coolest Websites and among them was on Jackson Pollock by Miltos Manetas. When the page has loaded you can splatter and dribble to your hearts content all without getting paint on the carpet.
Unfortunately I don’t quite recall the path of thoughts that led me to buy this book… but I’m glad that I did.
