This site is an ongoing effort in online communications. Since I began publishing online in the mid '90s, my personal site has always served as a testing ground for new ideas. Being a university professor by trade (public administration and public policy), much of my "experimentation" has involved public officials and graduate students . . . developing online mechanisms for enhancing/ riching the productivity (and, dare I say, fun?) of online education. The site has gone from text-only, to HTML, to Flash, and now to XHTML/ PHP/ MYSQL/ FLASH/ MT/ JS/ CSS/ RSS. And yet, it's somehow gotten so much simpler. Imagine that!
Anyway, as a result of my innate interest in various information technologies, I came to a few conclusions; for instance, that I should (1) continue learning as much as I could, to satisfy my curiosity and expand my knowledge base; (2) put it all to more formal use by writing articles, press releases, developing important linkages and designing sites [like this one] that would be of benefit to those both in and outside the classroom. And, (3) let's face it, when websites are done well and provide content that's genuinely useful to others, they often pay for themselves . . . always nice when things work out like that . . . especially on a teacher's salary!
