Building on the momentum generated by Cal Ripken, Jr.'s 2005 appearance, the 2006 Mohegan Sun World Baseball Coaches' Convention set new event attendance records and featured newly-named Florida Marlins Manager Joe Girardi, Red Sox Legend Dwight Evans and Chicago White Sox Pitching Coach Don Cooper presenting to over 1,000 baseball coaches on Friday. The 2006 event got underway on Thursday evening with a full line-up of coaching presentations which included sessions by Tennessee's Rod Delmonico, Clemson's Kevin O'Sullivan, Toronto Blue Jays Trainer George Poulis, the Minnesota Twins' Bill Springman and former Major Leaguer/Current Instructor Steve Ontiveros. Following a full-day of coaching sessions and time to visit the event's extensive Vendor Zone on Friday, Saturday concluded with a morning full of coaches' talks by Detroit Tigers Hitting Coach Don Slaught, Baseball Rules Expert Rich Marazzi, Rick Lynch of Texas' Tomball High School, Northeastern University Baseball Coach Neil McPhee and the University of Maine's Steve Trimper.
