Hello my name is Bernie and as you know I am the mother of two beautiful boys. One of my boys is a special needs child, he has autism. I began this site to serve as a way to stay in contact with family members and to keep them updated. I have family in other states as well as in Puerto Rico and this is a nice to way to stay in touch.
After a while I began getting emails from parents who somehow came across my site. They shared their stories as well as the fact that it was so nice to hear from another parent who has a child with autism. I guess in some way my site provided comfort in knowing that they were not alone. That is how this site grew. I decided well if I’m going to keep the family updated then I should also place more information that would help other families who are dealing with this complex disorder. Until you’ve been dealt the AUTISM card you will never know what it’s like raising an autistic child. Although my son continues to do well, he will always be autistic. As of now there is no cure and doctors still do not know the cause.
