Description
After earning a BS in 1978, Maggie taught high school physics. She began a toy manufacturing business - creating, designing and manufacturing toys from her ideas, receiving multiple patents, and selling toys throughout the US, Canada and Australia. She began pet sitting professionally in 1994. Her family includes Cowboy--a Shiz Tzu rescue with a John Wayne walk, $weetie--a dachshund-spaniel-genetic disaster with expensive back problems, a loaner dog named Sasha, BuckyShasta--a 17 year old Himalyan Siamese cat, and one very understanding husband. She has also lived with and loved: hamsters, gerbils, parakeets, rabbits, tree frogs, cockapoos, maltapoo, Collie, German shepherds, black lab, numerous cats, orphan lambs, chickens, angora goats, and pigs. Maggie has worked in dog, cat and wildlife rescue, organized donation drives to raise funds for animal rescue groups and shelters, founded the Austin Pet Sitter Organization, and dearly loves animals. "We do our utmost to love your furry baby like you do, whether he's a 100 pound energetic Rhodesian Ridgeback, an 8 pound geriatric mutt, or an elderly tabby in need of talking and petting. We love'em like our own."
Susan grew up in Houston and was interested in all kinds of animals. She had almost every kind of pet imaginable--from snakes, fish, turtles, even a baby mockingbird named Henry, to skunks, monkeys, cats, dogs and horses. Some of her closest life companions were a dog, a bird, and a horse. Susan received her Respiratory Therapy Certification in 1975. She was Director of the Respiratory Therapy Dept. of Jasper Memorial Hospital and worked as Cardio-pulmonary supervisor and tech at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital. In 1984 Susan became a fulltime mother and part time student and artist, eventually earning a Commercial Art degree in 1999. Susan met Maggie in 1998 when she needed a pet sitter to care for Lizzie, Susan's baby Yorkshire terrier.
"Maggie introduced me to the rewarding world of pet sitting. I am going on my 6th year now and still enjoy every single day of pet sitting. Taking care of people for so many years trained me to be precise and aware of individual needs and personalities. And possibly, it was my love for animals that made me enjoy taking care of people as well. The two fields seem to complement each other. Maggie and I offer a special kind of love and caring for our clients that is clearly a step above the usual pet sitting experience. We actually do offer responsible, compassionate companionship for your loved one. We treat your family as our family."
