Up next is a car that is formerly known as the “Pony Car”. But this is one bad pony if it was. Ford Motor Company had a vision of making a small muscle car, thus its nickname the Pony Car. The Ford Mustang roared when it hit the streets; it was a success. In 1965, the first year, they made over 600,000 Ford Mustangs. There are good reasons why people loved the Mustang. For starters it had a low price, and the buyers loved the long hood, short trunk, and all of its options. The engine options were elite; the buyers had seven different engines to choose from. With that in mind everyone could get what they wanted, whether a street hog with lots of power or the more easy gas saving engines. The biggest engine in the Mustang in 1965 was the 289 V8 which had 360 HP. Also in that year Carroll Shelby and Ford made the legendary Shelby GT-350.
