- 玉溪师范学院前身为玉溪师范专科学校，创建于1978年，92年改名为玉溪师范高等专科学校，2000年3月经教育部批准，在玉溪师范高等专科学校的基础上与玉溪师范学校、玉溪成人教育中心合并，成立玉溪师范学院。玉溪师范学院是玉溪市唯一的一所高等学院，在长期的教学、科研实践中，玉溪师院已成为玉溪市及全省边远地州培养初中教师及社会经济建设人才的高校。 In April1978, a 2-3 year normal school was established with provincial approval. On November 11, 1983, the school was upgraded into a pedagogical technicum. In December 1992, with approval from State Education Commission, the school was renamed into Yuxi Advanced Teachers Training School. In March 2000, as approved by the State Ministry of Education, the previous Advanced Teachers Training School, the Yuxi Normal School and the Yuxi Adult Education Center were combined to create Yuxi Teachers College, the first 4-year college in Yuxi Municipality, fulfilling the hope of the 2 million people in Yuxi for better education.
