余健，1973年8月3日出生于安徽马鞍山。曾就读于新建小学，马鞍山二中。1991年免试直升进入中国科技大学零零班，1995年保送中科院软件所， 1997年8月到University of Texas at Austin计算机系攻读硕士。1999年5月毕业后，先后在GTE, Chiaro Networks, INET工作。2004年2月3日被确诊为急性非淋性白血病。 与疾病顽强奋斗了512天后，于2005年6月29日病逝。 据他母亲说，出生的时候，情况很紧急，差点出了意外，所幸的是最后余健安然出生了。余健一出生就很乖，不吵也不闹，把他一个人放在那儿他就静静的，很好带。 看来余健的性格是天成的，安静内向，话不多，很恬淡。从小余健就喜欢看书，家里亲戚聚在一起吵吵闹闹的，他却总是一个人拿着本书看。他说他小的时候订了好多杂志， 儿童时代，少年科学，少年文艺，等等等等，他告诉过我，我都记不得了。这样爱看书的习惯一直延续到现在。他现在最爱看的是科幻小说，一生中最后看的小说是“Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”，
