シャプラニールは1972年に設立された民間海外協力団体（NGO）で、平和で公正かつ多様な地球社会の実現を目指し、特定の政治・宗教団体・企業などに依存することなく、一般市民のご理解とご支援によって活動しています。バングラデシュでは首都ダッカに2名の駐在員を派遣し、農村部の貧困層を対象にした相互扶助グループ(ショミティ)の育成を中心とする農村開発活動を行い、識字学級の開設、保健衛生知識の普及、収入向上のための小規模な事業の支援等を行っています。また、2000年の秋よりダッカにて現地のNGOとの協力体制のもとに、ストリートチルドレンの支援活動を開始しています。ネパールではカトマンズに1名の駐在員を派遣し、農村部と都市部の貧困層を対象にオカルドゥンガ郡農村開発活動、カトマンズ低所得層自立支援活動、カマイヤ再定住民支援活動という3つの活動を展開しています。これらは全て現地のネパールの現地NGOとのパートナーシップによって実施しています read more
