Description

About the site

The Broadband Resource is a not-for-profit website aimed at bringing UK broadband availability information to those who are interested in it. It was created by myself, Sam Crawford, and is also maintained by Paul Buck and Ian Saunders. If you have any questions, suggestions, comments, and so on, please don't hesitate to send them to us.

The site was started as a small hobbyist site after I worked at Datasouth UK on the Hampshire Broadband project. I left there in September 2003 to study Computer Science at Bath University. Over time I began getting more and more people requesting new features and sharing their ideas. The results of all those ideas and suggestions is the site you see today.

Originally the site focussed heavily on BT's preregistration scheme. We provided almost realtime information about the number of pre-registrations per exchange, and also enabled people to make realtime pre-registrations via the site (whereas many others were delayed by a day or two). During this time 1,600 campaigns were registered with the site, and we processed 76,000 pre-registrations.
