Welcome Sauk Village was incorporated on March 12, 1957 and consisted of 55 homes in what is known as the Garden Section located near I-394. Thomas Nichols became the first Mayor of Sauk Village in 1957. In his second term as Mayor, Nichols saw a community of 55 homes grow into a community of 1,258 homes with a population of 5,774. In 1965 Roger Theisen became the Village's second Mayor.
