Poets House is a literary center and poetry archive based in New York City, housing a 45,000-volume open-access collection of poetry books, journals, chapbooks, audio, and electronic media — described as the most comprehensive of its kind in the United States. It serves poets, readers, and the general public through its free library and literary events that document the diversity of modern poetry. The organization was founded in 1985 by poet Stanley Kunitz and arts administrator Elizabeth Kray.
