南関東４競馬場とは、浦和競馬場、船橋競馬場、大井競馬場、川崎競馬場の１都３県の競馬場のことをいいます。４つの競馬場は南関東競馬サークルとして、同一ルールの下に競走を体系化して、競走馬、騎手の相互交流を行っています。 南関東競馬の歴史は、４つの競馬場が開設された昭和２０年代に始まりますが、当初から人馬の相互交流が行われ、幾多の名馬を輩出してきました。 昭和２９年には、大井競馬出身のゴールデンウェーブ号が日本ダービーに優勝、同年にはオパールオーキッド号が天皇賞に優勝し、昭和３０年代には、ダイゴホマレ（日本ダービー）、ミッドファーム、タカマガハラ（天皇賞）が優勝しています。昭和４０年代には、ヒカルタカイが大差で天皇賞に優勝し、ハイセイコーが国民的なアイドルとなり、競馬の大衆化に大きく寄与しました。 read more
