The Millennium Campaign is a United Nations initiative that informs, inspires, and mobilizes citizens to push their governments to fulfill commitments made at the September 2000 Millennium Summit. It supports grassroots and international efforts toward the eight Millennium Development Goals, with the stated aim of eradicating extreme poverty. The Campaign was launched in October 2002, two years after 189 world leaders adopted those goals.
