Miriam became a writer after getting her undergraduate degrees in biochemistry and environmental studies and avoiding English lit classes like the plague. While she can barely remember how oxidation and reduction work, she maintains that it is handy to be a journalist who isn't scared of scientific mumbo-jumbo. She is happily settled with her two partners and baby daughter in Albany, New York, where she walked to work all winter for her first three years in town.
