Mindy Friddle is a native of South Carolina, where her family has lived for more than two centuries. Her people were lintheads who toiled in textile mills and hardy farmers with poems in their hearts.* After earning a BA from Furman University, Mindy worked as a newspaper reporter** for several newspapers before enrolling in graduate school at the University of South Carolina, where she studied with James Dickey and William Price Fox.
