Kosciusko is one of the counties in the northern Indiana Lake Region. Kosciusko County was organized between the years of 1835 and 1837, and is named in honor of Thaddeus Kosciuszko, a Polish Noble who fought with George Washington in the Revolutionary War. He was born in Lithuania, Poland on February 12, 1746. In area, this is one of the largest counties in the state of Indiana, with a total of 541 square miles in its seventeen townships.
