Worst Technology Count for the Downside of Technology

Some of the latest and highly advanced technologies, strangely yet rightly could most likely fall in the bracket of worst technology. It would be apt to point out that that the most high-tech technologies in the modern times, count for the most worse technologies also. It is no wonder that when these advanced technologies arrived to the fore initially, they were much appreciated and these were among some of the most loved and revered assets but, with their constant use and in the due course of time; the hidden, irritating, harmful and worst of the features of these technologies have come to the surface.

There is no doubt left in saying that the world’s once best technologies have another worse facet, and if to be named correctly, then, they are most commonly known as the world’s worst technologies.

Worst Technology : Microsoft Windows Millennium (2000) and Sony BMG Music CDs (2005)

To acquaint one self with the features and affects of some of the worst technologies in the world, the following are a must read:

Microsoft Windows Millennium (2000): this window software could be called the worst version of Windows ever launched or it could be traced back to the dark old days of Windows 2.0. Microsoft Windows Millennium came as a follow-up of windows 98 SE mainly for domestic users in 2000, but as soon as this window software was launched, a large number of users started reporting problems in its installation. Not only in installing but problems appeared also in having it work with different software or hardware, in making it run, and in bringing it to a stop from running. This software also introduced new features like the system restore features, which were later popularized by Windows XP. But, like most of its other features, this new system restore feature too did not work; as it could restore all those files which you never would want to look at again like the viruses which you had just deleted. Hence, at the end, it just proved to be nothing less of a millennium bug.

Sony BMG Music CDs (2005): while you insert a music CD in your personal system, you could never think of the fact that it could transform your computer into a hacker’s game. But, no wonder that the Sony BMG music CDs did just the same, when they first appeared in 2005. What they exactly did was the scatting of copy security software in the disc by installing a root kit which made it undetectable, even for the anti-virus software or the anti-spy ware. Thus, making it increasingly easy for any moderate cyber hacker to use the identical root kit to hide, and possibly capture your confidential documents, information or bank accounts. It was later estimated that above half a million machines had been infected with the root kit system. After downplaying this problem, Sony BMG came up with replacing the faulty CDs and refunding the users’ money, but as a matter of fact this could also not be done successfully.

Like the above, much frustrating technologies, there are countless other such technologies; America online (1989-2006), Real Networks Real Player (1999), Syncronys’ Soft RAM (1995), being just a few among the lot of worst technologies.
