In any case, please do take action against your hair loss problem as soon as possible, as hair follicles can only last 4 years without growing any hair before they become incapable of growing hair at all.

Did you know that stress and hair loss are connected? Well they are and it could be the reason you are losing your hair. So what is stress, what causes stress, how does it cause hair loss, and what can you do to stop this type of hair loss? Here are some of your answers:

What Is Stress - There are several definitions for the term stress. I like to define it as a condition that makes more demands on the body's energy either through physical or mental energy. What this does is it takes energy away from certain parts of the body and places it in areas the body thinks it is needed.

What Causes Stress - Stress can be caused by significant events such as a major surgery, divorce, a move or work. I ended up in the hospital with a major illness because of the stress I developed due to my job.

How Does It Cause Hair Loss - As mentioned, energy from certain parts of the body are moved and focused in other areas. In the case of hair loss, energy and nutrients are removed from the hair follicles and placed in other parts of the body. This causes the hair to go into its rest phase or telogen effuvium phase. When your hair goes into this phase, it will not fall out till about three months later. So the stress event will have occurred three months before you notice your hair loss.

What Can You Do - Well first thing to do is to ensure the event that caused the stress is removed. In my case, I got a new job that is less stressful. After you have removed the stress event, the next thing you need to do is look at ways to re-grow your hair. Some things you can do to re-grow your hair are:

Vitamins - Many vitamins are useful to re-growing your hair. If you are eating a balanced diet then you should not need to take extra vitamins. With that said, you just might want to take biotin, a member of the vitamin B family, which can help promote hair growth.

Exercise - A light daily exercise is not only good for your hair, but is beneficial to the whole body.

Shampoos - You should look at using shampoos that contain Ketoconazole. This is believed to promote hair growth. Plus shampoos that make your hair look fuller will help hide your loss till it grows back.

So if you are suffering hair loss it just might be because of stress.

Job getting you down? Bills piling up? Hair falling out? Stress hair loss is one of the most predominant reasons both men and women lose hair. While many people feel this can be due to the emotional side, physical stress also contributes to the problem. Unfortunately, this isn't something you can just turn on and off whenever you want which is why I wanted to cover it today.

The main goal today is to give you information on stress hair loss itself and the two types that a person can contract in their lifetime.
