At first, the company started with distribution of canned fruits and vegetables restaurants and stores. The company took the name under which it now operates in the late 80’s when it acquired the Caro Foods Kenneth O. Lester Company and divisions. Today, PFG is a leader in the food distribution and services industry of the US. Starting with the 80's, the company started operating on a much larger scale and started managing a real distribution network by sharing resources with Pocahontas Foods, a primary division of PFG. This allowed the company to contend with the biggest broad line food distribution names. Since then, many distribution companies have joined the corporation and business continues to expand.
