Hi, I'm Di and I live in Auckland, New Zealand

I look up Wiki pages almost every day but I'm very new to Wiki editing. I have a background in computing and making webpages in html and simple editors but I am very out of date as I haven't bothered doing anything like this for about 5 years.

Although I'm a lot older than most students I'm currently doing a Sports Performance and Development Course which I'm enjoying and so far, doing well. I've worked in the health sector and in computer, small business systems management and order-entry/supply and accounting for a "Stage and Theatre Lighting" manufacturing company,Selecon Lighting so I'm not really sure why I'm doing a Sports/Fitness Course but hey, that's where my interests lie at present.

With my partner, Greg, I'm involved in running and racewalking events (He's the runner, I'm the tortoise) and currently training for Auckland Marathon in October, 2007. I'll be running the 1/2 marathon and I've registered as a Heart Racer to raise money for the Heart Foundation of New Zealand.

To help with my training I've been doing Vibration Training this year. The benefits of increased strength and flexibility are amazing, plus helping with injury recovery. After a fall that left me with pain in my leftback/glutes and nerve pain radiating down my left leg and being unable to lie or sleep on my left side without pain I had a year of physiotherapy treatment and spent hours doing exercises to stretch and strengthen the damaged muscles and nerves. I only got partial relief and recurrence of pain as soon as I went for a fast walk or jog. In January, 2007 I started going to a Vibration Training studio,Vibra-Train as I'd researched a little about it's benefits for therapy and for general fitness. I was fortunate to meet the owner of the studio (and designer of the brand of machines and program used) and was encouraged to ask questions; and so I did! Many questions (how, what, why, safety) and many hours of independent research followed, along with just going along and doing the training program two or three times weekly. One morning I woke up lying on my injured side, with no pain! Nothing in my lifestyle or exercise program had changed except for going to Vibra-Train for almost three months. The healing has been ongoing and now after six months my body core balance is great. Editing the Vibra-Train page is a small way to say thank you for the help and encouragement I've received (and no, I don't work for the company and no I'm not being paid to write this. I don't think the owner has even read this page).

My other interests are my church, EdgeCC.co.nz, my family (of course), community helps work, and involvement in forums and chatgroups worldwide.
